Background

Hyundai​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Motor Group inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to jointly work on developing hydrogen and low-carbon technologies in line with their mutual pledge towards sustainable innovation.

The partnership builds on Hyundai’s ongoing work with EDB through the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), the company’s first global open innovation hub. Together, they will look for new business opportunities, develop new technologies, and create practical solutions for sustainable mobility.

Hyundai will work with Singapore-based companies and startups to study how Singapore’s pipeline network can be used to distribute hydrogen. This effort aims to solve logistical challenges and make hydrogen delivery more efficient.

Jaeha Park, Vice President and Head of Hyundai’s Global Hydrogen Business, said, “Working with the EDB allows us to pursue new growth opportunities, particularly in low-carbon innovation. This partnership is key to shaping a sustainable energy future for Singapore and beyond.”

The EDB will support Hyundai’s participation in key initiatives and facilitate partnerships with local enterprises to develop and apply sustainable technologies. “By signing this MoU, EDB and Hyundai are deepening their partnership,” said Zheng Jingxin, Vice President and Head of Mobility at EDB. “It aligns with Singapore’s sustainability goals and enhances its status as an international innovation hub.”

Globally, Hyundai aims to expand its clean hydrogen ecosystem by integrating eco-friendly energy businesses and developing advanced infrastructure across regions, reinforcing its vision for a sustainable, low-carbon future.
