Shevaun Haviland, director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, has been confirmed as the latest keynote speaker at the Business Growth Studio conference, organised by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.
Growth in the current economic landscape will form the focus of her opening keynote, examining national and global trends shaping opportunities for UK businesses and giving attendees a grounded view of shifting market conditions.
The conference runs on 13 October at IET Birmingham, Austin Court, from 8.45am to 2.15pm, bringing together business leaders and entrepreneurs for panel discussions, expert insights and interactive workshops.
Haviland has led the British Chambers of Commerce since April 2021. She previously headed Business Engagement at Number 10 Downing Street and served in the Cabinet Office as head of the Inclusive Economy Partnership.
Consultancy roles in London and New York marked the early part of her career, followed by strategic planning positions at the Walt Disney Company and Disneyland Paris, then global account work at Millward Brown, Mindshare and WPP before she co founded digital innovation agency Independents United. She later served as New Ventures director for Avado and founded the Academy of Digital Business Leaders.
A CBE followed in the King’s Birthday Honours of 2025 for services to business, alongside board and trustee roles with the International Chambers of Commerce, Women of the World Foundation and Barefoot College International.
Haviland said she would outline challenges and opportunities facing SMEs across the UK, noting how the organisation works with government to support growth through trade, investment and productivity.
